International Psychoanalytical Association- North London
A qualified archivist is required for 4 to 6 months to define and catalogue the IPA’s archival collection; preparing records for conservation, storage and potential digitisation.
Based at the IPA’s headquarters in North London, you will play a key role in delivering an exciting project which has been part funded by the Wellcome Trust. You will use your skills to help the IPA shape its collection and record management policies, de-accessioning, structuring and conserving historic records, and advising on digitisation.
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, you will work with an international committee of psychoanalysts to shape the future of the archive. Comfortable with working autonomously yet collaboratively, you will be self-motivated and well-organised, with excellent project management, inter-personal and analytical skills.
You will have a professional qualification recognised by the Archives and Records Association and demonstrable IT experience, including knowledge of archive cataloguing software. You will also have sound working knowledge of Data Protection legislation.
Sympathy with the ideas of Freud and other psychoanalysts will be advantageous but not essential. Ability to read German, French and Spanish would be distinctly helpful.
