This Task Force will draft a proposal for a new Dictionary. They will suggest ways of managing the project and engaging the IPA's membership in its work, to cover the developments in psychoanalysis since 1932 but also to reflect the different approaches of different schools. While it is initially intended that any new Dictionary should be published in English, the Task Force should also consider the practicalities of publication in the IPA's official languages other than English (French, German, Spanish), and in other languages widely used by IPA members (eg, Portuguese).
The Task Force will provide an interim report to the Board meeting of January 2014, and will aim to submit its final report and recommendations to the Board meeting in summer 2014.
It is envisaged that the Task Force will conduct its work electronically with no face-to-face meetings, using wherever possible the free GoToMeeting or Skype services. A budget of US$5,000 should be allocated for incidental expenses (such as conference calls where no free alternative exists) to cover the entire period to July 2014.
The composition of the Task Force shall be:
- a Chair;
- three members, one from each Region of the IPA;
- such Consultants as the Task Force may wish to engage.
