The Website Editorial Board has an overall responsibility to ensure the coherence of the IPA's website, and it must decide an appropriate balance between the sometimes competing demands of different committees (e.g. priority for communication with Members versus communication with non-Members). The Chair of the Website Editorial Board, as a key member of all the related Committees, has a key role in ensuring the integration of all IPA communications work in close collaboration with the Head of Communications.

The Website Editorial Board will consider the recommendations of the Image Task Force and adapt its work, to the extent it considers appropriate and practical, to take their conclusions into account. It will exercise editorial control over the IPA website, and will ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements (and have particular regard to the importance of protecting personal data and security).

The Board will have due regard to its role as a key portal for all IPA activity, ensuring that all IPA Committees have a reasonable and appropriate opportunity to develop and disseminate using the resources of the web.

Tasks

The Board will:

• consult with the Social Media and Wiki Editorial Boards, and with the Communications Resource Group, to support them in the development of their activities;
• work closely with the Head of Communications, ensuring that all the IPA's communication activities are properly integrated and coherent;
• keep the work of the Image Task Force alive by taking on board their conclusions and adding to the initial findings if and when appropriate;
• develop the IPA's website into one of the world's foremost and liveliest resources for psychoanalytic content by increasing usage (page views) and the average time users spend on the site by at least 10% year on year.

Composition

The Website Editorial Board shall consist of a Chair, plus five representatives from each region; the Vice President, the Executive Director and the Head of Communications shall be ex officio Members. The Committee composition also should include IPSO Members, ideally one from each region as it is felt that this activity would benefit from more IPSO input. The Committee may appoint as Consultants such other Members of related committees as it wishes (Consultants will not be funded to attend in-person meetings).

Way of Working

The Website Editorial Board will be expected to do most of its work electronically, using Skype, GoToMeeting, or other free-to-use communication systems, and would not typically be allocated funding for an in-person meeting of its entire roster due to the large size of the committee. While a Webmaster may be allocated to provide some professional support to the Board in the implementation of their work, the Board, like all IPA committees, will be expected to be self-supporting for secretarial and other purposes.
