The first Turkish psychoanalytical group, 'Istanbul Psychoanalytical Group' was founded in 1994. This group gave rise to the first Turkish psychoanalytical association, 'Istanbul Psychoanalytical Association', founded in 2001.
In January 2007 four founder members of this association constituted the 'Turkish Psychoanalytical Study Group', recognized by the board of the IPA.
The Istanbul Psychoanalytical Association was promoted to Provisional Society status at the IPA Business Meeting on 1st August 2013 during the Prague Congress. To read the speech given by Ayça Gurdal Kuey at that meeting please click here
