The Brazilian Psychoanalytic Society of São Paulo (SBPSP) has existed since November 24 1927, and was the first psychoanalytic society in Latin America.
It was the first Brazilian organisation to be recognized by the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA), and is a member of the IPA (Component Society), as well as a member of the Psychoanalytic Federation of Latin America (FEPAL) and the Brazilian Federation of Psychoanalysis.
Composed of 453 members and associates, SBPSP seeks to maintain a multi-clinical psychoanalytic outlook, contributing to the interaction of psychoanalysts with different orientations, and also to stimulate fruitful dialogue with other areas of knowledge and culture.
SBPSP maintains a remarkable scientific and permanent flow of publications, including the Official Journal of Psychoanalysis.
