CONTEMPORARY SEXUALITY AND PSYCHOANALYSIS Perspectives, Challenges, Dialogues

In a time in which sexuality seems unbound of old taboos and lived by without constraints, in a time in which new ways of living it are socially accepted and even favoured, the sexual still remains, luckily, a source of mystery and of curiosity to which one returns to.

The psychoanalytic thought is autonomous and distinguishable from all others by approaching a broader sexuality than the one we can find in observable manifestations but not ignoring the changes occurring in culture, in society and the movement of ideas.

The XXVIII Colloquium of the Portuguese Society of Psychoanalysis – CONTEMPORARY SEXUALITY AND PSYCHOANALYSIS – on May 5th and 6th of 2017 will be a place of questioning, of sharing and of meeting Psychoanalysis with Philosophy, Sociology, Literature, Medicine, Religion and Art - a creative place where the diversity of perspectives may make progress to knowing and understanding the human being.

Given the relevance and complexity of the object under scope in this Colloquium, our main purpose is to deeply reflect on subjects and circumstances which represent, nowadays, ethical, educational, clinical, legal and cultural challenges that may well contribute to more enlightened and effective interventions guided through by humanist ideals. We have the presence of participants coming from Psychoanalysis, Psychology and Medicine fields but, above all, we look forward to a Colloquium for everyone.
