English Speaking Weekend Conference
Body, Affect, Representation - Psychoanalytic Dialogues
English Speaking Weekend Conference 2018
28 – 30 September
This conference will explore the vicissitudes of affects and the capacity to develop mental representations in relation to the body, in psychoanalytic work with adults, adolescents and children. Affects are rooted in the body and profoundly affect the functioning of the body and the mind, as does the quality and/or lack of the capacity to hold representations. The speakers will explore these issues, in the areas of pain, self-harm and violence; autism and autistic defences; and psychosomatics. Two clinical papers will be presented in each of the three panels, followed by an open dialogue between the two speakers and with the audience.
There will also be optional clinical seminars on Friday evening with senior training analysts of the British Psychoanalytical Society.
Speakers in dialogue and chairs
Donald Campbell & Catalina Bronstein. Chair: Alessandra Lemma
Christine Anzieu-Premmereur & Maria Rhode. Chair : Robin Anderson
Megan Virtue & Jonathan Sklar. Chair: Joan Schachter
