Congress Structure
The Congress will start early in the morning with courses and workshops. These will be followed by two Major Panels that will focus on a keynote speaker’s paper on one of the Congress themes; this presentation will be followed by two discussion papers. Post-panel discussion groups will be offered for further dialogue and reflection. The already formed Boston Groups will also have an opportunity for face-to-face meetings at the same time. The third Congress slot will be devoted to Individual Paper presentations. The afternoon panels (two slots) will include Meet the Author/Analyst sessions, Thematic Panels, Clinical Exercises, Small Discussion Groups on Special Topics, Film Presentations, and Empirical Research Presentations. All activities will incorporate time for questions and discussion.
Our main objective is to have a Congress where you have an opportunity to work in depth on contemporary issues, to discuss with colleagues the challenges we face in our clinical practice, and to determine which answers fit best with psychoanalytic theory.
Congress activities will include Major Panels, Meet the Analyst/Author sessions, Panels, Clinical Exercises, Small Discussion Groups, Individual Papers, Courses and Workshops, Posters, and Films. Proposals are invited for some of these categories, others will be arranged by the Programme Committee.
The Congress takes place alongside the 23rd International Psychoanalytical Studies Organization (IPSO) conference with panels, lectures, and activities organized specifically by IPSO. Further details about the IPSO programme will be made available in the registration materials during 2015 and will be available on IPSO’s website (
