Prominent member of the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association, former Scientific Secretary. Writer, lecturer, teacher and educator of many generations of analysts. Author of numerous books and original thinker.

An authority on the ideas of Willy and Madé Baranger, who imparted his profound knowledge in his writing and lectures.   On Sunday 5 August, Luis Kancyper passed away. As the sad news of his passing spread, the emails and messages poured in, together with telephone calls and expressions of shock and sadness. How? Why? What happened? Certainly he had not known. He was enjoying the fullness of life, after having given of himself in his innumerable contributions to the theoretical and clinical psychoanalysis of our time, in articles and books translated into various languages Read full obituary  Dr. Claudia Lucia Borensztejn,  President,  Argentine Psychoanalytic Association

Dr. Asbed Aryan

It is with great sadness that the Buenos Aires Psychoanalytical Association (APdeBA) announces the death of Dr. Asbed Aryan. He passed away on the morning of July 16th 2018. He was a training analyst from APdeBA and a professor at the Mental Health University Institute (IUSAM). He was also a professor at the Buenos Aires University for the Family and Law course. He chaired the Child and Adolescent Committee of the Latin American Psychoanalytical Federation (FEPAL) for two years from 2005 to 2007. This was when he created the Child and Adolescent Interregional Dialogues, which have been very successful since then. The 35th Dialogue will take place this August. Asbed was a committed psychoanalyst and an enthusiastic professor, especially in the Child and Adolescent area, in which he had an exceptional talent. He published many articles in Argentina and all over the world, and he also published the book Clínica de Adolescentes, co-authored with Carlos Moguillansky. He was a pioneer in fostering psychoanalysis in Armenia, his family’s land of origin. But, more importantly, Asbed was greatly respected and beloved. And his affectionate and genuine consideration towards others always shone through. We will miss him.

Dr. Albert Mason

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Dr. Albert Mason died unexpectedly in hospital after a brief illness on Wednesday, May 16th.  Dr. Mason has been one of the pillars of our world-wide psychoanalytic community.  He was a tireless teacher, supervisor, analyst and mentor to hundreds in our field, specializing particularly in Kleinian thought.  He helped bring British Object Relations to Los Angeles, and helped to establish the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC).  He also helped to extend British Object Relations from Los Angeles to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and beyond. He was a sought-after teacher; he wrote numerous articles and has two books awaiting publication.  His vigor and insight was palpable and clear, making this sudden loss especially difficult to digest.  We will miss him dearly and will honor his memory always. Respectfully, Leigh Tobias, PhD, FIPA President, the Psychoanalytic Center of California, Los Angeles
