The Polish Psychoanalytical Society (PTPa) was formed in 1997.
PTPa currently lists 54 members - licensed psychoanalysts, having qualified in accordance with the standards of the International Psychoanalytical Association, among them 15 training analysts,10 child analysts and the 34 candidates in training.
The Society works with psychoanalytic organisations from across Europe, especially in close cooperation links with psychoanalytic societies operating in the UK, France, Germany, Sweden and Israel as well as the Polish Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. The Polish Psychoanalytical Society continues the tradition of Polish pioneers of psychoanalysis, among others: Louis Jekels, Maurice Bornsztajn and Gustav Bychowski, who practiced before the Second World War, and Jan Malewski, Michael Lapinski and Zbigniew Sokolik, who developed the knowledge and practice of psychoanalysis in the postwar years, while training the next generation.
