The Swedish Psychoanalytical Association was established in May 2010 through a fusion of the two former Swedish psychoanalytic societies, The Swedish Psychoanalytic Society (founded in 1934) and The Swedish Psychoanalytical Association (founded in 1968). It is a professional society for psychoanalysis, and members of the Association are usually medical doctors or clinical psychologists who have been trained in psychoanalysis at the Swedish Psychoanalytic Institute.
The Association has internal scientific activities for its members and it also arranges lectures and small group seminars for the public on psychoanalytic topics. It also pursues research projects related to psychoanalysis. The Association can help with referrals for psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.
