We wish to welcome you to our upcoming IPA Congress in July 2023. We will return to a collegial in-person (with a HYBRID programme also) gathering during which time we will be able to take stock of our recent history and reflect on it through our psychoanalytic lens and our togetherness. We have worked to design a meeting in the beautiful and inviting city of Cartagena that will foster collaboration and sharing the experience of these past three years.


Programme

Our preliminary programme is available now. A rich programme filled with lectures, panel discussions, small discussion groups, community model presentations, films as well as a diverse range of social and networking opportunities. There will be a digital element to this year’s congress. Using our state-of-the-art virtual congress platform, those who are unable to travel, will be able to watch a selection of sessions from the programme, from anywhere in the world, at a time that suits them.

Theme

The basic questions for this congress are:
How do psychoanalytic and social perspectives intersect? 
How has our method and technique been affected by all this reality?

Venue

We are pleased to announce that the congress in Cartagena, Colombia, will be held at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Centre - CCCI
The Convention Centre is set against the backdrop of a beautiful bay in the heart of a World Heritage Site, it provides easy access to a wide variety of historical and cultural sites of interest. 

Hotels

There are rooms especially allocated for IPA Congress Delegates at various hotels.

Guest Speaker

Our Guest Speaker at Cartagena will be John, Lord Alderdice FRCPsych, formerly Leader of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland, was one of the negotiators of the 1998 Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and then the first Speaker of the new Northern Ireland Assembly.
