The French Psychoanalytic Association (APF) was created in May 1964. The Association, is focused in making a contribution to research in psychoanalysis and Freudian discovery, and the training of psychoanalysts by the criteria which are specific to it.
Among the founders of the APF are: Didier Anzieu, Daniel Lagache, Julia Favez, Georges Favez, Wladimir Granoff, Jean-Louis Lang, Jean Laplanche, Jean-Claude Lavie, J. b. Pontalis, Robert Pujol, Victor Smirnoff and Daniel Widlöcher. Guy Rosolato joined the group a few years later.
The Psychoanalytic Association of France has (correct to July 2011) 294 members and analysts in training including 32 members, 53 corporate members, 17 members, and 3 honorary members.
